Only One is Worthy of Trust

Passage: Jeremiah 2:4-28

Speaker: Dr. Steven Laufer

Series: This is How We Live - I

Category: Sunday Sermons

The prophets illustrate ways in which the people of God neglected the First Commandment, while the Psalms illustrate ways in which they adhered to it. Where the people placed their trust is a key element (Jer 2:26-28; Ps 40:3-4), as is the forgetting of God who alone provides and cares for (Hos 13:4-6; Ps 81:9-10). They also illustrate the ways in which people search for God and his direction for their lives (Jer 2:4-13; Isa 48:17-18; Psalms 1-150). In all cases, we exhibit our adherence to the First Commandment by turning to God alone in our times of need, seeking him alone when we have questions about life, and trusting him alone to guide us along our way.
