Christmas Eve Services (Focus, Jan 2016)
UBC celebrated the birth of Christ this year through two very distinct and enjoyable Christmas Eve services.
Children were everywhere as a family-friendly service took place at UBC at half past five on Christmas Eve. The celebration included the Holy family, a manger, shepherds and even live animals—all of which greeted the Bay Area community as they entered for worship. The Worship Center was filled to capacity as the community guests sang carols led by our 11 o’clock praise band. The families witnessed baptism, heard the Christmas story, and listened to Senior Pastor Dr. Steve Laufer as he presented a short Christmas devotional. The service ended with the congregation singing “Silent Night” by “candlelight” (glow stick light).
At 11 o’clock that evening, a service of contemplation was held in a more traditional setting. The UBC members and community guests gathered together to sing carols and read scriptures. The congregation received a Christmas devotional from Dr. Laufer, and participated in the Lord’s Supper. The service culminated at midnight with “Silent Night” by candlelight.
