Teachers of Specials

Ms. Jennifer loves kids and is passionate about teaching physical education and movement to the children at UBC Weekday.  Jennifer has a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree in Education from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.  She was a teacher and a coach for 10 years before deciding to stay home with her three kids.  Her kids are older now and she is excited about teaching children how God made our bodies to move through games and physical activities.  She and her family enjoy camping, hiking, biking and all kinds of sports together.  Jennifer's favorite Bible verse is: Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Ms. Laura (Ms. Lala to the kids) is the Preschool and PDO music teacher and the chapel teacher. She has a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M (WHOOP!) and taught 6th grade social studies for 10 years. Laura is thrilled to now be a part of the Weekday family because regardless of how old they are, she loves teaching children about the world, music, and the God who made it all. She has been a member of UBC for nearly 20 years and has served in preschool and student ministries at various times. Music has always been one of her favorite things, and she is in choir and Chamber Singers and wishes she still had time to play handbells. Laura has been married to Isaac for 8 years, and they have 2 little boys who are loving their time in Weekday. She and her family serve with a ministry in Zambia called Alliance for Children Everywhere.  When not teaching or advocating for families in Zambia, Laura loves to scuba dive, be around animals (especially her Weimaraner Aggie Belle), swim with her family, travel, read, and hang out with her family. Her favorite verse is Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ms. Kasie and her husband began attending UBC about 7 years ago. She has 16 year old twin boys and then came along 2 little surprises who are now 6 and 4.  She has a BSN and had been working as a clinical nurse for 17 years. When the little ones came along she decided to stay home and take care of her family.  She put the littles in MDO and loved everything about it....what they learned, the teachers, the special programs…so much so that she began working there herself!  She absolutely loves the kids, their faces when they learn something new and cool, and the teamwork of people is tremendous...all with the goal of raising children with Christ in their heart and using those precious God-given brains. One of her favorite verses is in the hymns of Psalms 46 "Be still and know that I am God..."

Ms. Lorene is so excited to be back teaching Spanish at UBC!  Lorene grew up in Indiana, and has lived in Florida and now Texas.  Lorene has a Bachelors Degree in Communication from the University of Southern Indiana and also holds a Texas Real Estate Brokers license. Kids are what motivates her and gives her the passion she has to share the love of language. With having three young children of her own, she knows how to shower our preschoolers with fun & love while keeping them busy and wanting to know more.  She and her family love spending time together swimming, biking, traveling and playing sports. Lorene's favorite Bible verse is: James 1:17 – “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”
