The calling of Jesus’s disciples provide just a few examples where Jesus looked beyond who and what certain people were in the moment to what they potentially could be. In striving to be good neighbors, we must learn to do the same, looking past people’s pasts, their failures, their shortcomings, to what they might possibly become due to the transformational power of God’s Spirit in their lives.
