Passage: Ecclesiastes 9:1-10

Speaker: Dr. Garet Robinson

Series: Overcoming Suburban Addictions

Category: Sunday Sermons

Opulence and comfort are watchwords of the suburbs. We work hard and deserve the spoils of our labor. Being able to afford the luxury of regular happiness is an idol that many pursue with near reckless abandon. How often is the happiness we buy only a fleeting moment? Across his life of plenty and excess, Solomon found that, in the end, it never provided him with the fulfillment he was seeking. No matter the increasing level of his purchasing power, true happiness remained elusive and he died an empty man. By pushing beyond the thin veneer of vain consumerism, we find that a deeper calling for our lives is to pursue the true joy of God-honoring living.
