Balancing Hard Work and Quality Time

Balancing Hard Work and Quality Time

Passage: Proverbs 6:6-8

Speaker: Dr. Steven Laufer

Series: Balancing Act

Category: Sunday Services

Keywords: idolatry, quality time, relationships, rest, sabbath, work

The quality of diligence is mentioned often in the book of Proverbs, and stands in stark contrast to laziness. Clearly proverbial wisdom reminds us that laziness leads to ruin and hard work is a mark of the well disciplined. But as with all things in life, balance must be maintained in our work lest work become our god. The notion of Sabbath constantly reminds us of the need for rest and worship, and the multiple references in Proverbs to parental wisdom speaks to the value of spending quality time with family and friends. Families that are healthy are typically families that have discovered a balance between hard work and quality time together. Prov. 6:6-8, 20:4, 28:19, 1:8-9; Exod 34:21
